Nødvendigt tesæt

To properly prepare the Masudaen Makinohara Green Tea, there are several key utensils that you may want to have on hand to ensure the best results possible. These include:

  • A matcha bowl: This traditional Japanese bowl is specifically designed for whisking and serving matcha tea. Its wide, shallow shape allows for easy whisking and the sloping sides make it easy to pour the tea into a cup.
  • A bamboo whisk: Also known as a chasen, this special whisk is made from thin bamboo tines that are woven together to form a delicate, flexible whisk. It is used to froth the matcha powder and create a smooth, creamy texture.
  • A chashaku: This is a traditional Japanese scoop made from bamboo, which is used to measure out the right amount of matcha powder. The chashaku is designed to hold approximately one gram of matcha, which is the perfect amount for a single serving.
  • A sifter: This tool is used to remove any lumps or clumps from the matcha powder before it is whisked. Sifting the matcha ensures a smooth and consistent texture, making it easier to whisk the powder into a frothy, creamy tea.

Information om gården

The Masudaen Makinohara Green Tea is produced by Mr. Masuda, a talented tea farmer in Shizuoka. Mr. Masuda manages a larger tea field, and when we met with him he showed us nearly every aspect of the tea production process, from the growing to the packaging.

We also learned about the different grades of matcha tea he produces on the tea field. He uses the precious first harvest of the tea plants to produce ceremonial grade matcha which is smooth enough to drink plain, and later harvest of tea plants to produce matcha that works great in lattes.

Oprindeligt fra Shizuoka

Japan

As the name would suggest, the Masudaen Makinohara Tea is made in Makinohara in Shizuoka. Makinohara green tea is well-known for its quality, and this tea is a testament to that. The region of Shizuoka is the largest tea growing region in Japan, and it benefits from fertile soils and a mountainous climate.

Kultivar og teplantesort

This matcha is made with a blend of 3 different tea cultivars, Yabukita, Sayamakaori and Okumidori.

  • Yabukita

Yabukita has become the most popular tea plant variety in Japan, thanks to its pleasant vegetal flavor and strong umami.

  • Sayamakaori

The sayamakaori cultivar is a relatively new tea cultivar that is rich in catechins. The tea is often used for black teas, but it can produce a bold and flavorful green tea as well.

  • Okumidori

Okumidori is a cultivar that is added to green teas to produce a smoother finish and a more full-bodied flavor.
