What is Matcha Affogato?

If you're familiar with Affogato, you'll know that it is normally made by pouring espresso over ice cream.

Some matcha affogato recipes call for a combination of matcha and espresso together, but we've found that these flavors clash.

That's why we recommend making a matcha paste (also called koicha) and pouring it directly on top of the ice cream.

If you read our article about what does matcha taste like, you'll know that this is the perfect matcha flavor pairing!

Matcha Macarons

Pairing matcha affogato with delicate and sweet matcha macarons creates a delightful symphony of green tea flavors and textures, offering a sophisticated and elegant dessert experience.

Fresh Berries

The tartness of fresh berries, such as strawberries or raspberries, balances the sweetness of the matcha affogato and adds a refreshing burst of flavor, complementing the creamy matcha ice cream perfectly.

Almond Biscotti

Enjoying almond biscotti on the side provides a delightful crunch and nutty undertone that complements the creamy matcha affogato, making it an ideal accompaniment for a relaxing afternoon treat.

Dark Chocolate

A piece of dark chocolate alongside the matcha affogato enhances the richness of the dessert with its bittersweet notes, adding a touch of indulgence to the green tea delight.

Green Tea Mochi

Indulge in the chewy and subtly sweet green tea mochi, which echoes the matcha essence and adds a traditional touch to your dessert experience, perfect for those seeking an authentic Japanese treat.
